Ages are by January 1st. Whatever your child was on January 1 is the age group your child will compete in. You may go up an age division if you choose contact director for questions and concerns with age divisions. Local Preliminary pageants may offer variations on these categories. Judging will remain consistant.
Required Categories
Interview/Play Time
Interview- all age divisions will compete in Interview. Infant -Tiny will compete in Play time. Play Time is a chance for the younger girls to interact, there will be toys etc. They will be judged on interaction, kindness, beauty, and personality. Parents will be asked questions. In Infant and Baby age divisions the contestants will not be allowed to speak, the chaperones will be asked the questions. Mini + will compete in interview. They will go in un-chaperoned and will be asked to come to the X. They should stand in pretty feet. They will be asked a series of questions. (Remember: “I don’t know” is not a good answer) Contestants 12 and under should not wear suits for interview. Nice Sunday best dresses or slightly dressier are recommended, think of traditional girls clothing when picking out interview clothing. No makeup on Infants and Babies. Light Foundation, blush, No color Lip Gloss and mascara on Littles. Foundation, blush, color Lip Gloss and mascara on Juniors. Full Make Up on Jr. Teens +.
Party Dress/Evening Gown
This is the chance to show off your beauty and gracefulness. Beauty Dresses should not be full glitz. Stoning is allowed, but don’t outshine the girl. Its best to send in a picture to the national office and get it approved. Strapless is only allowed on Jr. Teen and up. (13 +) No makeup on Infants and Babies. Light blush, No color Lip Gloss and tipped mascara on tiny. Light Foundation, blush, No color Lip Gloss and mascara on Littles. Foundation, blush, color Lip Gloss and mascara on Juniors. Full Make Up on Jr. Teens +.Infant-Little should be knee length or shorter, but should not be shorter than fingertips. Junior should be Tee Length or shorter but should not be shorter than fingertips. Jr. Teen + should be floor length.
Street Wear
Street wear is your chance to show your personality! Anything that describes who you are will be accepted. (i.e. If you are a girly girl, petti skirt with lots of bling. If you are a tom girl, jeans and your favorite jersey will work. If you are classy, a cute Capri outfit. If you are funky, a tutu kind of out fit.) Have fun, no midriffs, keep it age appropriate. Any skirts 4” or less must have leggings or something that comes more than 4”s or closer to your knee. While modeling, there will be a queen with the microphone, you will announce your name, age, where you’re from, and why you chose your street wear outfit. Light Foundation, blush, No color Lip Gloss and mascara on Littles. Foundation, blush, color Lip Gloss and mascara on Juniors. Full Make Up on Jr. Teens +.
Celebrity Wear
This one is a fun one….. Since our Florida State theme is Hollywood, you will dress as your favorite celebrity!!! Have fun, no midriffs, keep it age appropriate. Any skirts 4” or less must have leggings or something that comes more than 4”s or closer to your knee. Overdone makeup is allowed here, If it goes with your celebrity.
Optional Categories
Modeling
Contestants may enter as many of the Optional Modeling categories as she chooses. During Optional Modeling the contestants get to practice on the stage and gets comments and recommendations for the official competition. Other Optional Modeling categories are offered to give contestants extra stage time and practice and of course to have fun on stage.The optional modeling categories are not required, but are highly recommended as the contestants that are on stage more, tend to do better in the Official Competition
Sleep Wear- this is a fun category where the contestants show off their sense of style and favorite type of Sleep Wear. We suggest that you stay very age appropriate, and actual sleep wear to be worn. No mid riffs or completely sheer items to be worn. Shoes are not required for sleep wear, matching slippers and etc, are suitable. Street Dress- this category is once again, the contestant’s opportunity to show off of their sense of style and to show off the fads of today’s times. Pick an outfit that is in style for the time, season and age. Some hats and accessories are acceptable. Swim Wear- a fun category to show case the different styles of swim wear. This category may have custom swim wear, or purchased swim wear. We strongly suggest that you have fun with this category, and keep accessories to a minimum as we want to see the suit. Some glitz style suits will be accepted, just remember to not out shine the contestant. Have fun and be creative. Suits with cartoon characters are not allowed. Shoes are not required, but are surely allowed. No swim toys or towels are needed for the swim wear category. Street Wear and Beauty Dress- you may choose to wear your actual official competition Street Wear, and Party Dress or something similar, to get the feel from the judges and also to see what looks best and how it actually fits while being modeled. If entering any optional modeling categories we suggest that you enter street wear, celebrity wear and beauty dress if in doubt of what to wear for any part of the Official Competition. Remember you may enter as many wardrobe selections as you want per category, meaning if you have three Street Wear outfits that you like and unsure which is best, model all three and see what the judges prefer for the Official competition. Optional Judges will not be the Official Judges, but will have the general idea of what the Official Judges are looking for and will certainly be capable of helping you choose what is best for your contestant to wear in the Official Competition. Also please remember that when entering optional modeling events, that you may very well have the cutest outfit, prettiest dress, and still not win 1st place in that category, modeling, facial expression, grooming, stage presence and poise all factors in when scoring and entry.
Optional Talent
Optional Talent is an optional category for contestants with talents that they would like to showcase and compete for the prestigious State Talent Title. Talent performances must not go over the 2:30 minute time limit. Talents must be age appropriate and be entertaining to the audience. Although we are a natural pageant, and usually don’t accept midriffs, etc, talent is different. All styles of clothing are acceptable, as different talents require different clothing. Accompany music must be on a CD with only one song and labeled. Talent winners will receive the State Talent Round Crown, and official RM award and Fees off their National Fees. Talent Title Holders will be invited to perform and showcase their talent throughout the year at RM preliminary pageants. She will be invited to attend all Royalty Trips and events. She will also be spotlighted throughout the year on different occasions.
Florida State Beauty Queen
As one of the highest titles in the State, don’t miss your chance to compete in the State Beauty Queen competition. Compete in the beauty dress, celebrity wear and street wear of your choice within the guidelines as stated in your State Handbook. The Florida State Beauty Queens are judged on the following; facial beauty, stage presence, street wear, Party Dress/ Evening Gown, Celebrity Wear and all around poise. Florida State Beauty Queens will be awarded the Florida State Beauty Queen round crown, scepter, sash, and an official RM award.
Photogenic
Enter the Photogenic category for an opportunity to be crowned the 2012 Florida State Photogenic Miss in your age division. All photos must be mailed into the National office by December 15, 2011. Absolutely no exceptions! If your photogenic entry is not in our office by that date your photo will not be considered for the State Photogenic Competition. Photos must be an 8X10 no larger and no smaller. All photos must be in black and white and a natural photo. Photogenic entry fees must be sent in and paid in full when entry is received. Photogenic winners will receive a State Crown, and many other exciting RM awards, including having your winning photo displayed throughout the pageant weekend. The Photogenic entries will be featured in our program book and the winners photos will be framed and featured at future RM Florida events and activities. You may enter more than one entry in the photogenic competition.

Rules and Guidelines
*Contestants ages 0-12 years are not allowed to wear fake nail tips (hands or toes) during any phase of competition. You must be at least 13 years of age and competing in the Teen Miss Divisions, to wear artificial nails. Polish for Petites through age 12 should be clear or a very pale pastel. No nail polish is allowed on Infant - Tiny Miss Contestants.
French Manicures are allowed for official competition for ages 7 and up.
*Shoe heel requirements: Ages 0-12 no taller than 1.5”. There is no heel regulation for ages 13 & up.
*Contestants ages 13 & up cannot have any outfits with the back going lower than their waistline.
*Body glitter or hair glitter is only allowed in Mardi Gras wear.
*Spray tanning application will not be permitted.
This will be cause for disqualification.
*Sexy overdone clothing is not acceptable.
* Expensive designer clothing is not necessary.
* Failure to follow clothing guidelines will result in ineligibility to top 5 placements.
* NO Midriffs are permitted to show in any outfit for all age groups. (Excluding talent)
* NO extremely low necklines in any phase of competition.
* NO disrobing or garment removal in any phase of competition. (Ecluding Talent)
* NO visual drawings on the body are allowed (i.e. tattoos) these must be covered!
* NO excessive or extremely large earrings on younger children on stage or in photos. (excluding talent and Mardi Gras wear)
* NO extremely tight fitting gowns on older contestants.
Fake hair is allowed for talent/party presentations/events. No fake hair is allowed in party dress, sportswear, interview, or Model competitions or at any casual time while on the host hotel premises. (excluding Mardi Gras wear)
* Coaching - Baby & Tiny Miss Contestants: Simple coaching from the parent/guardian on stage is allowed but must not be overheard by the audience/judges. Encouraging your baby to wave, smile, turn, wink, and blow kisses are acceptable.
Coaching off stage by anyone will not be allowed in any division. Coaching from behind or beside the judges table is not allowed. You will be asked to stop immediately. We do encourage the audience to route, clap and applaud each contestant!
Bathing Suits & Theme Party Rules: All clothing must follow the clothing guidelines and bathing suits worn must follow these guidelines: Your bathing suit can either be a one or two piece suit and must be tasteful in appearance. Bottoms must be Full-Coverage. Please choose tasteful bathing suits to represent RM.
*NO bashing of any contestant, mom, or family member is allowed by anyone.
*NO talking to judges at all throughout the pageant weekend!
*NO tampering with any score sheets (should you be near one).
*ALL Children in the Tiny Miss and under must be chaperoned at all times.
*There is a hands on rule at all times while on stage.
*All money sent to the national office or given to any directors for any reason is NON REFUNDABLE!
FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE RULES COULD MEAN POINTS DEDUCTED OR EVEN DISQUALIFACTION!
